Hey friends! This week we highlight a venue that we hold dear to our hearts! Coming from a photographer’s perspective, it doesn’t get better than Franciscan Gardens. When you step into the enclosed garden space you immediately are transported to a magical Tuscan courtyard adjacent to a charming historic building that’s been beautifully renovated. This little hidden gem is often overlooked but is nestled right in the middle of San Juan Capistrano’s beautiful historic downtown area.
The garden courtyard is adorned with grand cafe lights, fountains and lamp posts but is certainly enough of a blank pallet to let your imagination go wild with design. This space is versatile enough to be used for both the ceremony and reception on gorgeous spring and fall nights!!
The adjacent building on the property dates back to the 1920s. Recently, the indoor space was renovated to give a modern touch to an old charm feel. With brick walls, beautiful wood floors and an entire wall of windows letting in enormous amount of natural light makes this space amazing for group photos, portraits, etc.
The front room is a great alternative to the courtyard for receptions. In California it is not often we get rain but should it every happen on your wedding day, it is nice to know the front room at Franciscan is a quick transition option as well.
As mentioned before, Franciscan Gardens is located right in the center of historic downtown San Juan Capistrano within short walking distance of the San Juan Mission. The Mission’s grand basilica is a MUST for first looks and creative portraits. In addition to the Mission, there is the quaint and picturesque Los Rios District and Train Station.
If the ambiance wasn’t enough, the food will put you over the top. As vendors, we often get to sample the delicious items on the 24 Carrot menu. With royal presentation, delights such as steak bites, sliders, and my personal favorite, the brie grilled cheese sandwich, will melt in your mouth!
Franciscan Gardens has so much character and is so unique to the area that it’s hard to say no after visiting. To learn more, click here to go their site and book your tour today! For more photos, you can few several of our galleries here.
